I've been running again for the last couple of weeks and have been building up the time and distance over the time.
Regular readers will know I'm not a natural runner, but like the benefits it brings,
You know it's bad, when I see a Bank holiday as a perfect opportunity to leave the computer and mobile switched off, so that I can go for a longer run and take myself to the next level. It’s amazing how quickly you lose fitness, but conversely how quickly it returns.
I'd run the same route earlier in the week, albeit with difficulty, so I wanted to prove to myself that it wasn't a one off.
All was going well, until I tripped and fell about a mile from home, landing knees first, then grazing my chin on a high kerb, which hurt a lot. I'm not an accident prone person, so was quite shocked and had to sit down for a moment.
Once I'd realised that no-one had seen me, I picked myself up, checked the wounds and went home. (I'd love to blame the kerb, or the weather, but it was simply a careless trip.
So not only was it a 4 day working week (due to the bank holiday) but I've also had to spend less time at my desk, as my knees kept locking up.
The sad thing is that knowing I couldn't run (as walking wasn't so easy), I wanted to get out there even more !
